RESOLUTION NO. R81-412
A RESOLUTION STATING THE NECESSITY FOR THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL
RATE CASE, AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF PLAINVIEW'S
SHARE OF THE COST AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN
THE CITY'S AUTHORIZATION FOR PARTICIPATION.
WHEREAS, there is no organization to represent the general
rate payers upon whom Southwestern Bell seeks to oppose the bulk
of the requested rate increase; and
WHEREAS, the heavy loaded cases recently filed at the commission
coupled with the departure of several key Public UtilityCommission
Staff Personnel makes it imperative that as much evidence as possible
be presented on behalf of.the public in order to assist the Public
Utility Commission in making a fair and reasonable decision; and
WHEREAS, there are numerous concerns regarding quality of
service being provided by Southwestern Bell; and
WHEREAS, there is a necessity for Cities to participate in order
to assure that the Public Utility Commission remains aware of the
public interest and is concerned with its actions:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOVLED BY the Mayor of the City Council
of the City of Plainview, Texas, to participate in the Southwestern
Bell Rate Case a~d authorizing the expenditure of three & one/half
cents (3 1/2~) per capita, (based on 1980 population) in the amount
of Y~6~5 to defray the cost of the consultants and authorizing the
Mayor tO sign the City's Authorization for Participation.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 14th day of July, 1981.
