R81-414 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM REVENUE SHARING FOR THE ALLEY IMPROVEMENTS IN THE 600 BLOCK OF BROADWAY/AUSTIN STREETS. WHEREAS, in the spirit of our downtown revitalization program, the merchants and property owners adjacent to the alley in the 600 block, between 6th & 7th street, Broadway to Austin, has expressed the desire to improve and rebuild alley abutting their properties; and WHEREAS, these merchants and property owners have made committments to the City to participate 500 of the cost of,such reconstruction and improvements to this alley way; and 91, WHEREAS, on June 22,1981, the City received two bids for this construction one being from High Plains Pavers, Inc. of Plainview in the amount of $23,986.80 and the second being from Weldon Henry Construction from Plainview amounting to $28,711.79; and WHEREAS, during this construction the City Utility Department desires,at the City's cost,to replace water utlity lines located in this alley prior to reconstruction of the alley way: NOW, THEREFORE .BE IT RESOLVED BY the Mayor and City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas to: SECTION 1: Accept the bid of High Plains Pavers, Inc. for the lowest and best bid for the installation of a concrete alley in the 600 block , between 6th & 7th street, Broadway to Austin street in the amount of $23,986.80. SECTION 2: Authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Merchants and Property Owners adjacent to this alley for their participation of 50% of the concrete alley improvements cost. SECTION 3: Authorize the City Engineer and City Utility Dept. to proceed with Utility line improvements and replacements in this alley way prior to the alley reconstruction and improvements.
