RESOLUTION NO. R88-132
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS TEMPORARILY DISCONTINUING A PORTION
OF THE STREET LIGHTING IN "UNIT 6", PRIMARILY ON AUSTIN
AND BALTIMORE STREETS.
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview has been reviewing street
lighting throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a policy which states
tha= the primary purpose of street lights is traffic safety; and
WHEREAS, various areas throughout town have more than adequate
lighting for traffic safety purposes allowing the City to
discontinue some lighting, in some areas in the interest of cost
savings; and '
WHEREAS, one such potential area is identified as Unit 6, on
the attached map, which includes primarily Austin and Baltimore
Stree=s and involves approximately eleven lights; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, in the past, has been temporarily
turning off the lights so that an inspection may be made to
ascertain as to whether or not any adverse impact on traffic safety
will occur.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Plainview, Texas that the street lights identified in "Unit 6"
are to be temporarily turned off so that the City may ascertain as
to whether or not they may be permanently turned off and removed.
