RESOLUTION NO. R88-223
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS, REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF
HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOR THE CONTINUATION OF
PAVING ON STATE HIGHWAY 194.
WHEREAS, State Highway 194 passes thro~ the City of Plainview;
and ~
WHEREAS, U.S. Highway 70 passes through the City of Plainview;
and
WHEREAS, U.S. 70 is a heavily traveled and congested street
through the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, State Highway 194 contributes a significant amount of
traffic to U.S. 70; and
WHEREAS, Farm to Market Road 3466 was recently paved with State
assistance; and
WHEREAS, a logical continuation of State Highway 194 from U.S.
70 South to Farm to Market 3466 has been documented by the State
through the d~signation as a Federal Aid Urban Road; and
WHEREAS,!the continuatiOn of State Highway 194 from U.S. 70 to
FM 3466 will help to alleviate traffic congestion on U.S. 70 and will
enhance the traffic flow toga new school which is being constructed
South of FM 3466 on Ennis Street; ~-and
WHEREAS, i%J is in he best interest of the citizens of
Plainview and the State of Texas that said improvements be made as
soon as practical.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview, Texas that the City does hereby request financial
assistance from the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation in seeing that State Highway 194 is continued, with
paving and curb and gutter, from U.S. 70 South to FM 3466.
