R89-173 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, ORDERING THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON AUGUST 12, 1989. The State of Texas County of Hale City of Plainview WHEREAS, on the 17th day of August, 1989, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, convened at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present to wit: Councilmembers Alton Jackson, Don Di~kson, Bobby James, Ross Owen and John Kirchhoff and the following were absent: Councilmember Barbara Dorman WHEREAS, constituting a quorum, and among other proceedings had were the following: WHEREAS, Councilmember Ross Owen introduced a Resolution and ordered and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember John Kirchhoff ., and the motion carrying with the adoption of the Resolution and order prevailed by the following vote, ayes: 5 noes: 0 The Resolution is as follows: WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of an election held on the 12th day of August, 1989, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named official, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 236 valid and legal votes: that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: 1 of 2 185 For Councilmember Precinct No. 6 Robert E. Carter 112 19 105 0 Rey Rosas Dwain Dodson Write-In NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, that said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that: SECTION 1: That no candidate received a majority of the votes cast, and that Precinct No. 6 of the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, is hereby sUbject to a run-off.
