' AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY

LINES OE THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AND THE ANNRXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 580.49 ACRES OF LAND,. WHICH
SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS AND WITHIN THE.
.EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, two public hearings were conducted before the City
.Council `of the City. of Plainview, Texas, where all interested
.persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the
proposed annexation of the following described territory:
1. BEGINNING at a point in the East line of Section 41, Block
JK-2; Hale County, Texas, which point is 30 feet south of the
-Northeast corner of said. Section 41 and in the south line of a
public road and the City Limit Line of the City of Plainview;
THENCE along the Westerly lines of tracts of land annexed to the
City of Plainview October, 16, 1972, by Ordinance: No. 72-1286 and
March 11, 1975, by Ordinance No. 75-1741, as follows:
2. THENCE S.0°33'53"W. 1,382.6 feet along the East line of
the Hale County Airport property to apoint for. the
Northwest corner of a tract leased from the Hale County
Farm Bureau for airport purposes;
3. THENCE East 90 feet to a point;
4. THENCE S.0°33'53"W. 300 feet to a point;
5. THENCE West at 90 feet pass the Southwest corner of Zot ,
14; .Block No. 1, Subdivision of Reese Property located on ,
i\, J.M. Pressler Homestead Survey, Hale County, Texas, in all

- 6. THENCE 5.50°43'05"W. 980.6 feet along a line 50 feet.
Northwestfrom and parallel to the. center line of Purcell
Road, formerly known as Hutcherson Raad, a paved road into
the airport,. to a point in the Northeast edge of a paved
parking .lot;
7. THENCE N.39°16'55"W. 165 feet along the Northeast edge of
said parking lot to a point at the edge of an aircraft
.parking ramp;
8. THENCE 5.50°43`.05"W. 550 feet along the edge of said
aircraft parking ramp and passing Northwest of the Airport
Terminal Building to a point which lies West of the
airport maintenance machinery storage building;
9 THENCE 5.39°16`55"E. 100 feet to a point which lies South
of said storage building;
10, THENCE N.50°43'05"E. 150 feet to a point;

right-of-way line of Business Route, U.S. Highway No. 87;
14. THENCE 5.20°49'W. 2,664.9 feet along the Northwest
right-of-way line of said highway to a point which lies 50
feet South of the South. line of said Section 41;

Records of Hale County, Texas, and a point in the South line of a
839.58 acre tract of land annexed to the City of Plainview August
26, 1986 by Ordinance No. 86-2656;
18. THENCE N.50°43`05"E. 3,100.9 feet along the Northwest line of
said 3.220 acre tract,. and along the"Southeast City Limit Line to a

19. THENCE N.1°19'.50"W. 3,330.7 feet along the East City Limit Line
and along a line. 50 feet West from and parallel to the West line of
said Hale County Airport property line which has been described as
the West. line of said Section 41 in deeds for tracts conveyed to
the City of Plainview and Hale County, to a point in the South line
of a tract of land annexed to the City of Plainview, March 11,
1975, by Ordinance No. 75-1739, .said point being. the Northeast
corner of said 839.58 acre tract annexed by Ordinance No. 86-2656;
20. THENCE N.88°50'D6"E. 2,570.2 feet along a line 50 feet South
from and parallel to the North line of said Section 41 and along
-~ the City .Limit line of the City of Plainview to a point in the West
line of the East Half of Section 40, Block JK-2, Hale County,
Texas;
21. THENCE South 3Q.7 feet to a point in the South .line of a public
road;
22. THENCE N.88°33'06"E. 2, 187.5 feet along the South line of a
public road along. the South-line of said Section 40 and along the
City Limit line to the Place of beginning and containing 580.49
acres of land, more or less.
WHEREAS, said hearings being held at the City Council Chambers
of the-.City of Plainview on the: 14th day of October 1986 and the
..21st day of October .1986, with said first- hearing date being not
more than forty (40j days nor less than twenty (20) days prior to
the introduction and first reading of this Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the first and second notices of such Public Hearings.
'were. published in a newspaper having general circulation in the
City of Plainview, Texas, and in the above described territory on
the 1st day of October 1986, and the 9th day of October 1986, which
dates are' not more .than twenty (20) days nor less .than ten (10}
days prior to the public hearing on the topic of annexation
proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Plainview, Texas is
approximately 25,000 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Plainview, Texas; and

adjoins the City`of Plainview, Texas; and
WHEREAS, a copy. of the "Service. Plan" for the annexation area,
as well as a mag, is attached and made a permanent part.. of this
Ordinance; and .

- NOW THEREFORE, BE' IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Plainview, Texas:

Section 1. The following described land.. and territory lying
adjacent to and adjoining with the City of Plainview, Texas, is
hereby added. and annexed: to the City of Plainview, Texas, and said
territory. hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within
the` boundary limits of the. City of Plainview, Texas, and the
.present boundary limits of such City, and the. various points
contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are hereby altered
and amended to as to include said area within the. corporate limits
of the. City of Plainview, Texas., to-wit:. ~-r
1. BEGINNING at a point in the .East line of Section 41, Block
JK-2, Hale County, Texas., which point is 30 feet south of the
Northeast corner of said Section 41 and in the south line of a
:public. road and the City Limit Line of the City of Plainview;
THENCE along the Westerly lines of tracts of land .annexed to the
City of Plainview October, 16, 1972, by Ordinance No. 72-1286 and
.March 11, 1975, by Ordinance No. 75-1741, as follows:

City Limit line to the Place of beginning and containing 580.49
-acres of land, more or less.
Section 2. The above. described territory and the area so
annexed shall be apart of the .City of Plainview, Texas; and the
property so added shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied
by the City of Plainview,. Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall
be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all of the
citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, and
regulations of the City of Plainview, Texas.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be passed in the manner
provided by Charter of the City of Plainview, Texas:
