NAMING UNIT
RESOLUTION NO. R93-110
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS,
APPROVING THE NAMING OF A PROPOSED SUBSTANCE
ABUSE FACILITY WITHIN HALE COUNTY, TEXAS, THE
WHEELER UNIT OF THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL
JUSTICE.
WHERF. AS, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, an agency of the State of
Texas, desires to build a substance abuse security facility within Hale County,
Texas, for detention, training education, rehabilitation and reformation of sentenced
Felons, capable of housing a population of 500 persons; and
I~HEREAS, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, desires that the
Commissioners Court of Hale County, Texas, and the City Council of Plainview,
Texas, be responsible for submitting a name by which the new facility will be known;
and
WHt~RF. AS, after considering persons who have unselfishly contributed much of their
own time, money and effort to the development of Plainview and Hale County, Texas,
which has benefitted all citizens of Plainview and Hale County; and
I~[I{P. RF~kS, the person who has for many years selflessly promoted Plainview and Hale
County, for a better way of life for all its citizens, is local banker
NOW THERI{FORI{ BI~ IT RI~SOLVgD, the City Council of the City of Plainview,
Texas, join with the Commissioners Court of Hale County, Texas, in proposing the
new substance abuse security facility be known as the Wheeler Unit of the Texas
Department of Criminal Justice.
