Camp, Max Browning STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: John Castro, Director of Community Development, Kristin Page, Secretary of Board of Adjustment OTHER GUEST: CJerardo Montelongo, Jose R. Mata, Isaias Martinez Max Browning was sworn in as an alternate board member and Cezar Cervantez was sworn in as a primary board member. First item on the agenda, approval of minutes. Cezar Cervantez made motion to approve minutes as read and Fred Willis seconded. Motion carded 7-0. Second item on the agenda, Case # 1332, the request of Gerardo Montelongo for a variance of fifteen (15) feet eight (8) inches ofthe required twenty (20) front setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance to build a 34'6" x ~2'6" carport in a Central Business (CBD) Zoning District, and being Lot I 1, Block 1, Delay Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas and same being 919 Cedar Street. The ordinance states, that in a Central Business District you have to have a front set back ofnot less than that of the main building or twenty feet (20) whichever is greater. In this case Mx. Montelongo's property is thirty three (33) feet from the from property line. The carport will be twenty [our (24) feet five (5) inches beyond the front ofthe house or fffieen (15) feet seven (7) inches into the required minimum front setback. There were three responses for and one opposed. Mx. Montelongo stated that he needs to construct the carport to put his car and truck underneath it to protect it from the weather. The staff feels that this is the only logical place for it and the staffhas no problem with it. He is going to build the carport out of iron pipe, square tubbing across the top, 2 ~A by 1 V~ Corrugated tin for the roof. Fredrick A. Camp made motion to grant him the variance as long as it is painted the same color as the house, John Bickel seconded. Motion carried 7-0. MEETING ADJOURNED SECRETARY
