BOARD OF AD]USTMENT
MINUTES

First item on the agenda, approval of July 99' minutes. Ronnie Miller made motion to approve
minutes as read and John Bickel seconded. Motion carded 4-0.
Second item on the agenda, Case #I346~ the request of Luis Sifuemes for a variance of twenty-three
(23) feet of the required twenty-five (25) foot from setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of
Plainview Zoning Ordinance to erect a 12' X 20' carport in a Single Family Res'dential (R-2) Zoning
District, and being Lot 5, Block 3 I, Highland Addition, Ptainview, Hale County, Texas and same
being 1207 E1 Paso Street. Mr, Joe. M. Oeanas, Mr. Sifuentes's, son-in-law, stated that the reason
for the carport was for protection ofhis vehicles. He will be using 3 inch steel pipe, with 3 ½ beams
and covered with a metal (tin) roof. John Castro stated that this was a R~2 zoning, which the front
set back is normally 25 feet. It is staff opinion that this request falls within the guidelines as set forth
in section 37:2,2tz There were two (2) in favor responses received. Ronnie Miller made motion to
approve the :variance, Joe Rodriguez Jr., seconded. Motion carded 4-0.
Third item on the agenda, Case #1347, the request of Javier Campos for a variance of thirteen (13)
feet ofthe required twenty-five (25) foot front setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview
Zoning Ordinance to erect a 12' X 20' carport in a Single Family Residential (R-2) Zoning District,
and being Lot 15, Block 1, Carpenter Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas and same being 2008
Independence Street. Mr. Campos stated the reason for the carport is for protection for the vehicles
and shade for his little girl. He will be using 4 inch square tubing, with 6- 4 inch purlings on 4 10'
metal poles. John Castro stated the reason for requesting 13 feet, is because Mr. Campos's house is
about 32 fL fi?om the fi?om set back. This is a R-2 Zoning area and the from set back is 25 ft. It is
staff opinion that this request falls within the guidelines as set forth in section 37:2.2h. There were
three (3) in favor responses received. Ronnie Miller made motion to approve the variance, John
Bickel seconded. Motion carried 4-0.
