HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.27.1988 BA Minutes BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MONDAY, JUNE 27, 1988 7:30 P.M. CITY HALL The Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jack Burton. Other members present were John Oathout, Carolyn Warrick and Lynn Davis. Visitors present were Ray Teeple, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Millican and Joe Billy Frye. Staff present: David Blackburn, Building Inspector. City Attorney and Jim Sewell B.A. CASE NO. 1053 Request of Ray Teeple for a variance to construct, to the living area in the required rear yard in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being Lot 79, Westridge Park Addition, Unit No. 3, and located at 409 Mesa Circle. With the use of an overhead projector, the case was presented by Mr. Sewell. Mr. Sewell indicated the location and addition of the property. Mr. Teeple stated he wanted to build an addition, a gazebo style room, onto his residence which would extend 5' into the required rear yard. After some discuslsion, Ms. Warrick made a motion to grant Mr. Teeple a variance to build an addition to his residence 5' into the required rear yard. Mo%ion was seconded by Mr. Oathout and carried unanimously. B.A. CA~E NO. 1054 A request of Bill Millican for a variance to park a mobile home for use as living quarters in a M-2 (Heavy Industrial) ZOning District, being Lots 7 & 8i, Block 5, Nob Hill Addition, and located at 1009 East 6th Street. By using an overhead projector and pictures, Mr. Sewell presented the case to the Board and indicated the location of the property and the trailer house. Mr. Sewell. state'd the mobile home had already been set on the property prior to the applicant filing an application. Mr. Millican stated the movers moved the mobile home ahead of schedule, and before he could make application for a variance, Mr. Millican also stated he would like a permanent variance so he could live next to his mother and assist her in her need. The Board questioned Mr. Millican as to whether or not he could show a medical or security hardship. Being unable to show such, Mr. Oathout made a motion to deny the request due to the fact that the applicant could not meet the medical or security hardship requirement. Motion carried unanimously. B.A. CASE NO. 1055 A request of Joe Billy Frye for a variance to construct an addition to an existing garage in the required rear yard in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being Lot 11, Block 1, Ray Addition, and located at 410 Dallas. With the use of an overhead projector, Mr. Sewell presented the case to the Board and indicated the location of the property, and the proposed addition that required a variance to the zoning ordinance. Mr. Frye stated he requested the variance in order to extend his garage to the east rear property. After some discussion, Mr, Oathout made a motion that a variance be granted to extend the garage to the east property line. Motion was seconded by Mr. Davis and carried unanimously.
