HomeMy WebLinkAbout11.28.1988 BA Minutes BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEARING Monday, November 28, 1988, 7:30 P.M., City Hall The meeting was called to order by Jack Burton, Chairperson. Other members present were Pat Stoner, John Oathout, Fred Bechtold, Lynn Davis and Eddie Lopez. Staff present was Jim Sewell, Building Inspector. Visitors present were Franklin Ebeling and Wanda Phelan. B. A. CASE NO. 1066: Request of Frank Burge for a variance to construct an open carport in the required front yard in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) zoning District, being Lot 14, Block 1, Aylesworth Subdivision and located at 1304 Utica. Fred Bechtotd abstained from the case due to a conflict of interest. The case was presented to the Board by Mr. Sewello Mr. Franklin Ebeling stated that the carport would be approximately 18' from the curb. Mr. Sewell stated that the street right of way extended to twenty-two feet from the curb and that the carport would extend four feet into this right of way. He also stated that 'the Board was only empowered to grant a variance to the property line. After a short discussion, Mr. Davis made a motion to table the request until the next meeting and that a plot plan be submitted by the contractor. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lopez and carried on a 2-1 vote. B. A. CASE NO. 1067 A request of Wanda A. Phelan for a variance to construct a single family residence in the required front and side yards in a R-1 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being Lot 103, Westridge Park, Unit No. 3 and located at 209 Navasota. The case was presented to the Board by Mr. Sewell. He also presented a plot plan that indicated the distance the residence would encroach into the required front and side yards. Ms. Phelan stated that she had changed her mind and that the garage would encroach six feet (6') into the front yard rather than the original two feet (2'}. Board of Adjustment Meeting November 28; 1988 Page 2 After some discussion, Mr. Bechtold made a motion to grant a variance to allow the building to extend six feet (6') into the required front yard and two and one-half feet (2½') into the required side yard. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Having no further business, Mr. Bechtold made a motion to adjourn.
