ORDINANCE NO. $9-2799
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview did on
August 8, 19$9, at a Regular Session of said City Council pass and
adapt Ordinance No. 89-2799. The. Descriptive Caption and
Penalties of said Ordinance are as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS,. ..AMENDING
THE ELECTRICAL' CODE OF THE CITY OF PLALNVIEW, TEXAS,
REPEALING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE ,ELECTRICAL CODE
DEALING WLTH QUALIFICATIONS OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS;
DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF THE DESCRIPTIVE CAPTION OF
THIS ORDINANCE WITH PENALTY PROVISIONS OF THE ELECTRICAL
CODE; AND PROVIDING -FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE
ORDINANCE.
Section 2. PENALTIES: Any person, either" by himself or by
ag nt, and any firm, corporation or .other entity who violates any
of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction of any such violation, shall be
fined in any sum not to exceed ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000); and
each. day during which such violation continues shall constitute a
separate end distinct offense. In any case of a violation of any
of the terms or provisions of this Ordinance by any corporation
shall: be subject to the penalty herein provided. Any offense
defined herein which has been defined by the law of the State of
Texas as an offense and for which a penalty has been prescribed
shall be punished. as provided in said State Law an:d nothing herein
shall be held as fixing any penalty contrary to a penalty. provided
by the laws of the Sate of Texas.

ELECTRICAL CODE - INSPECTOR QUALIFICATIONS
ORDINANCE NO 89-2799
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AMENDING
THE ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS
REPEALING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE. ELECTRICAL CODE
DEALING WITH QUALIFICATIONS OF .ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS;
DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF THE DESCRIPTIVE CAPTION OF
THIS ORDINANCE WITH PENALTY PROVISIONS OF THE ELECTRICAL
CODE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE
ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City. of Plainview, Texas, has
appointed the. Board of Electrical Examiners to prepare
recommendations for the City Council in regards to the Electrical
Code; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Electrical Examiners have reviewed the
Electrical Code and determined that it contains requirements for
qualifications of the Electrical Inspectors which are
inappropriate in the Code and would be better served by being in a
~~ Job Description under the control-of the Personnel Department and
~._~ the Building Official ; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Electrical Examiners have recommended to
the City Council that certain changes be made in the Electrical
Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Cit1T of Plainview has
determined that the recommendations of the Board of Electrical
Examiners are appropriate at this. time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Plainview, Texas,
Section 1. That Chapter 9, Article 2, Section 9-21 (b)
dealing with City Electrical Inspector and Deputy Electrical
Ispector Qualifications of the Plainview City Code be repealed.
Section 2. All .former Ordinances of parts thereof conflicting
or inconsistent with the- provisions of this Ordinance or the
Electrical Code, .(Ordinance No. 84-2550), of the City of
Plainview, Texas, are hereby repealed.
Section 3. The City .Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause the publication of the descriptive caption of
this Ordinance together .with the penalty provisions of the
Electrical Code, of the City of Plainview, Texas, 1984 Edition as
amended.. This Ordinance .shall become effective after its passage
and publication as required by law.
