Council Chambers, City Hall, 901 Broadway The meeting -was called to order by chairperson, Lynn Davis. Other board members present were: Eddie Sessions, Betty Gonzalez, Jannie Benson, Leroy Lightfoot and Brandon Brownlee. Staff present were: Diane Groh, Director for Community Services; Jim Lindstrom, Building Inspections/Code Enforcement Department; Roy Reese, Building Inspections/Code Enforcement; and Janice Anderson, Secretary Community Services. Request of Wanda A. Phelan for the following variances: (1) 3 foot of the required 8 foot side yard setback on the Northwest curved alley and alley cut back. (2) One half foot of the required 8 foot side yard setback on the South side. (3) 6 foot of the required 30 foot front yard setback to build a single family residence at 209 Navasota in a R-1 (Single Family Residential District) Zoning District. Diane Groh presented the case and explained that the 6 foot variance to the 30 foot front yard setback had been granted previously. Chairman Davis ask if anyone wished to speak on this case. Bill LaFont spoke to the board and expressed this opposition to the variance. He felt it would not blend in with the neighborhood and would create a safety problem. He stated he had not received a notice at the previous variance hearing. Staff had documentation to support notices being mailed. Bill Cagle, 303 Mesa Circle, was opposed to the alley variance. After a lengthy discussion Brandon Brownlee moved, seconded by Eddie Sessions to table Case No. 1137, readvertise and hear it at the next regular meeting.
