HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.22.1991 BA Minutes BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MINUTES Monday, July 22, 1991, 7:30 p.m. Council Chambers, City Hall, 901 Broadway The meeting was called to order by chairperson, Lynn Davis. Other board members attending were Lee Roy Lightfoot, Eddie Lopez, Betty Gonzales, Carolyn Warrick and Jannie Benson. City staff attending were Gene Barton, Chief Building Official and Karen Walker, Code Enforcement Officer. B. A. CASE NO. 1122: Request of Angie Lee Goss for a Special Exception to Section 8:1 (Use of Land and Buildings) to permit the placement of a mobile home in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential District) Zoning District, being Lot 3, Block 10, Wye Addition located at 103 E. Carver Street. The case was presented to the board by showing video of the property. Henry Goss, son of Angie Goss, showed the board medical release and hardship case from Dr. Weidenbach. Henry Goss advised he needed to be close to his mother as he could not totally take care of himself. After a short discussion and questions asked from the board directed at Mr. Goss, Carolyn Warrick moved, seconded by Jannie Benson that no hardship had been shown in this case and thus the request for the Special Exception be denied. Motion carried unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. 1123: Request of Barbara Reed on behalf of Central Plains MHMR for a variance of 20 feet to the required 50 foot rear yard setback (Section 32:1 - Area, Setback, Height, Coverage and Density Regulations) to allow a structure 30 feet from the rear property line; and A variance of 15 feet to the required 25 foot side yard setback (Section 32:1) to allow structure 10 feet from the side property line in a MF-2 (Multi-Family Residential District), being Lot 15, Hilltop Addition, Unit No. 2, and generally located at 405 Ennis. Barbara Reed on behalf of Central Plains MHMR presented material to the board advising the extra room was needed for the women and children for play therapy and other activities. After a short discussion, Lee Roy Lightfoot moved, seconded by Betty Gonzales to approve the request for a variance. Motion carried unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. 1124: Request of Joe J. Gonzales for a variance of 19 feet tot the required 20 foot side yard setback (Section 34:4 (4) Side Yard Regulations to allow a structure 1 foot from the side property; and BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MINUTES July 22, 1991 Page 2 A variance of 24 feet to the required 25 foot rear yard setback (Section 32:1) to allow a structure 1 foot from the rear property line in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential District) Zoning District being the East Half of Lots 15 and 16, Block 41, Highland Addition and located at 1609 W. 13th Street. The case was presented to the board through audio and video means. Mr. Joe Gonzales advised he owned the lot where the existing garage was setting but it was too small. He also stated when renter at 1607 W. 13th vacates he plans to build an addition and move in. This would be in the near future but would like to get started with expansion of garage. After a short discussion period, Mr. Lightfoot moved, seconded by Betty Gonzales to grant the variance. Motion carried unanimously.
