HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.20.1991 BA Minutes BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MINUTES Monday, May 20, 1991, 7:30 p.m. Council Chambers, City Hall, 901 Broadway The meeting was called to order by chairperson, Lynn Davis. Other board members attending were Lee Roy Lightfoot, Randy Ballinger and Jannie Benson. City staff attention were Diane Groh, Director for Community Services and Karen Walker, Code Enforcement Officer. B. A. CASE NO. 111§: A request of Darlene Lunday for a variance to continue to park a mobile home for use as living quarters in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being Lot 1, Block 61, Highland Addition and located at 801Wo 15th Street. The case was presented to the board by Diane Groh. Mr. Lunday also stated that her mother is in need of constant care due to bad health. After a short discussion Mr. Lightfoot made a motion to grant a variance to permit the mobile home to remain for a period of one (1) year. The motion was seconded by Mr. Ballinger and carried unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. 1116: The request of Mrs A. C. Reynolds to construct an open carport in the side and front yards in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District, being Lot 18, Block 2 Northside Addition and located at 2304 Joliet. ' The case was presented to the board by Diane Groh. The board was advised the department received two (2) letters from surrounding property owners that were in favor. Mr. Fred Becthold, representing the owner, advised the board that the carport was 18 x 20 in size and would be located four feet in the required side setback and one-half inch into the required front setback. Mr. Ballinger made a motion to grant a variance to construct an open carport. The motion was seconded by Jannie Benson and carried unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. 1118: The request of Marion Cross to construct an open carport in the front and side yards in a R-2 (Single-Family Residential) Zoning District being the South 20 feet of Lot 2 and the North 42 feet of Lot 3, Block 1, Aylesworth Addition and located at 1317 Travis. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING MINUTES May 20, 1991 Page 2 The case was presented by Diane Groh. The location of the property was indicated by overhead projection and was reviewed. Mrs. Cross advised the open carport would be 24' x 21' in size and would be located 3 1/2 feet within the required 5 foot side setback and 4 feet in the required front setback. After a short discussion, Lee Roy L±ghtfoot moved, seconded by Jannie Benson to grant a variance for an open carport. The motion carried unanimously. B. A. CASE NO. lllg: Request of Carl Pelphrey to construct an open carport in the required front and side yards in a R-2 '(Single-Family Residential) Zoning District being Lot 7, Block 1, Ray B. Jones Addition and located at 1502 W. 16th Street. The case was presented to the board by Diane Groh by overhead projection. Mr. Pelphrey advised he wanted to construct a 20 x 20 open carport in size and would be located four feet into the required five foot side setback and 16 feet into the required twenty-five foot front setback. After a short discussion period, Randy Ballinger moved, and Mr. Lightfoot seconded to grant a variance. The motion was carried unanimously.
