Board Members Present
: Eric Turner, Beverly Wall, Desi Pharis, Harri Kotaiya,

Old Business
Recap of Local Events:
Business after Hours:
Much work and effort by Eric Turner & Tyke Dipprey in setting
up 20x20 tent, music provided by Bubba G. (Robert Garcia), first 50 people registered
received a $10.00 Chamber coin to spend as a cash mob at Uniques & Antiques, led by
Phyllis Wall, John Bertsch w/ Investment Center supplied sausage wraps, there was free
ice cream, water, and boo-coos of door prizes. Booth by SIFE and Germania were on

Cinco de Mayo
: LULAC had fundraiser for scholarship monies.
Memorial Day:
Mayor Dunlap’s first official appearance, Holocaust survivor Michael
(sp) Keller was speaker, Jake Serrano played TAPS.
4-H youth and church youth once again assisted in placing around 2,000 flags on graves
and then collecting them. The event was well attended.
TLI:
Texas Leadership Institute, once again was cancelled due to lack of attendance and
needs to be rescheduled when farmers aren’t busy

then elaborated on a few new businesses and owners such as Heather and
Justin May purchasing the old Marse & Sons building, The Kettle being renamed as
Gorilla Cuts will eventually open, and Sally Gubser from St. Petersburg, FL opening an
Gallery at 803-805 Broadway Art.
New Business & Upcoming Events
Eric Turner announced a Board Training: Thanks to Sam Van Hoose,

now scheduled for July 13 at the Nunn Business Building in Room 101 on the WBU
campus. The training will be presented by Debra (?) Forrester beginning with a lite lunch

at 11:30 AM with training to conclude by 2:30 PM. also shared that Coordinating
Boards from Canyon, Amarillo, Levelland, Vernon and others are expected to attend.
Bar-None Rodeo & Juneteenth Parades
: Only Plainview would schedule two parades
simultaneously marching in opposite directions on the same street. (The kids will love it.)
Wouldn’t you like to be the newly elected Mayor Dunlap or Dr. Starnes running from one

event to the other? really needs help in lining up both parades, driving vehicles and
help at Givens Park. HELP!

Red, White, & Moo:
Scheduled for June 30 at the Ollie Liner Center. There are many
events and participants such as the Lion’s Club cooking burgers, the Jr Literacy Council
sending 20 volunteers to man game booths, 3 legged races, water rides, petting the
animals and just name it, the dairies know how to put on a show for Plainview residents.
The events will run from 12 to 3:00 pm

B-B-Q and Car Show
is scheduled for August 18 at Broadway Park. We hope to have
Downtown Merchant coupons on hand. Proceeds will go to IDA

also informed the board that Paul Henderson is checking out an Amarillo Program
entitled Opportunity Texas that provides great sums of funding.

informed that SIFE received $2000 for PvPoint project.
