Chairman Cindy Weiland called meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. The minutes were
reviewed by all and approved unanimously.
Vernah Ramsower and Paul Henderson summarized what they had learned from
attending the Greg Clary Call to Action Workshop. Topics that brought about discussion
were how 75 percent of high school students would like to go into business, a possibility
of summer camps being offered to students on how to commence their own business with
the hope to continue to grow Plainview from within. Dee Blevins also commented that
The Chamber of Commerce is also working hand in hand with PEGA. It seems that
entrepreneurship is the going thing.
Vernah also informed the committee that at meeting would be held at the Rocking R on
Monday, March 9 at noon. This meeting would be to share current information regarding
facade grants. This meeting is for those on the design committee.
After discussing the structure and restructuring of the buildings in Plainview it was
agreed by all that Dee Blevins, with some assistance from Sarah Castillo, compile a list
of buildings and addresses that are empty, who owns them and if they are available to
occupy for a new business. This information would be beneficial for Laura Hardin of
WTAC.
