Robert Zapata presented the case before the board. A real estate assessment of the area was
perfonned by a local real estate agent and it was determined that the construction of a carport at
2303 W 20th will not have a negative effect on other nearby properties in the neighborhood.
Kevin Carter made a motion to approve the variance based on the request. Joe Rodriguez
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Hardin, Kevin Carter and Joe Frank Rodriguez.
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Zapata, City Inspector and Judy Rasher, Community
Service Secretary.
GUESTS PRESENT: Mr. & Mrs. Reynaldo Almendarez of 2201 Independence and Mr. &
Mrs. Lino Corest 600 Oakland.
Mark Hardin called the meeting to order at 6:29 P. M.
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Oath of office - NA
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of August 25, 2014 minutes. Kevin Carter
made a motion to approve minutes as presented. Joe Frank Rodriguez seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously.
THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA:
BA Case # 1637: Consider the request of a special exception of the minimum front set back
authorizing the construction of a Carport under the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance Section
37.2.2(H) Special Exceptions.
