and other sunken ships. He also indicated that the library is
going to get a CD with cataloging from Gaylord Bros after he talked
to their rep. at the convention. Approximately 1 of our collection
is fully cataloged. We will use the CD to continue the updating
as much as possible.
John presented the Board members a copy of his 1992-93 Budget
requests. Top priority is to get four (4) computer terminals to
complete our computer catalog system. Two would be put in juvenile
section and four in adult section. The computer in periodicals
section would have only periodical index. 40,000 volumes is
about Unger's limit for number of books. As new are purchased,
old are replaced and withdrawn.
Others items on the budget were discussed --travel for John (is on
committees and must attend Mid/Winter and summer meetings as well
as conventions); books (prices continue to go up); literacy
coordinator (presently paid by grant, grant applied for again
but will not know until probably 8-92, position is separate
from daily workings of the Library); videos (get people into library and
are reading -oriented).
Mary Kirchoff asked about out -of -county increase for library
cards. John explained that they have been announced and put
into effect.
Texas Bluebonnet Award video will be available to schools.
2nd -6th graders in Texas vote on this. This year's top
winner is Bill Wallace's Snot Stew.
Kriemer case in New Jersey is still in the courts.
Lucile Davis asked about Unger's policy. We have no specific
policy regarding patron behavior at this time.
Meeting was adjourned.
