HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-04-1978 Library Board MinutesUNGER MEMORIAL LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE December 4, 1978 The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial Library Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:10 P.M. Monday, December 4, 1978, in the Library Conference Room by Mrs. Merwyn Igo, President. Present were Ruby Curry, Susan LaFont, Malcolm Tisdel, David Willson, Tom Hamilton, City Attorney, andJudy Smith, Librarian. The minutes of the November 6, 1978, meeting were approved as presented. The Librarian's Report for November was presented. The Committee discussed the recovery of over -due materials. Mr. Hamilton stated that it would be necessary to file suit in Small Claims Court. He stated that his office would write all the patrons with over -due materials asking that they return those materials. If there has been no response in ten days, his office will again write those persons informing them of intent to file suit in ten days. He stated that about $400 would be needed to begin the process of filing suit on patrons with over -due materials. The Library will verify the addresses of all patrons with over -due materials. Mrs. Igo and Miss Smith will check on the availability of funds for filing suit and for obtaining locked book returns. The press will be invited to the January 8, 1979, meeting for an announcement of the Library's intention to sue borrowers with long over -due materials. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
