April 3, 1978
The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial>Library Advisory Committee was called
to order at 7:10 P.M., Monday, April 3, 1978, in the Library Conference Room by
Mrs. Merwyn Igo, President. Committee members present were Ruby Curry, Susan
LaFont, Lloyd Woods, and Judy Smith, Librarian. Visitors present were Norman
Huggins, Medlin Carpenter, Mrs. Gerald Martin, Mrs. Pat Menzer, Mr. & Mrs. Fred
Gant, and Mrs. Robert Tipton. Press representatives present were Chuck Martin,
Charles Bechtold, and Shari Campbell.
The regular order of business was suspended to allow Mrs. Gerald Martin to present
her REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS forms for the following six
(6) books: Our Bodies, Ourselves, Boston Women's Health Book Collective; More
Joy, Alex Comfort; For Better, For Worse, Jennifer Baker Fleming and Carolyn Kott
Washburne; Gay, Morton Hunt; Wake Up in Bed Together, Claude Nolte and Dorothy
Nolte; and, The Redbook Report on Female Sexuality, Carol Tavris and Susan Sadd.
The Committee received the forms and advised Mrs. Martin that a decision concerning
her complaints would be made at the May 1 meeting.
The minutes of the March 27, 1978, called meeting were approved as presented. The
Librarian's Report for March was presented.
Miss Smith was asked to have the budget request ready for final approval at the
May 1 meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
