Monday, November 1, 1976, in the Librarian's office. Present were Malcolm Tisdel, David Willson, and Judy Smith, Librarian. The minutes of the meeting of October 4, 1976, were approved. The Librar- ian's report for October was presented. Miss Smith reported on the TLA District Meeting, October 16 in Lubbock. At that meeting the need for having a signed book selection policy was stres- sed. Having a signed policy can prove to be an effective safeguard in a censorship controversy. The Committee will compare Unger Library's book selection policy with the book selection policies of other libraries to determine the adequacy of Unger Library's policy. When a good policy is established, the Committee will then consider signing it. The Committee discussed giving a memorial for Hugh Tucker, father of Bar- bara Tucker. It was decided that Miss Smith will choose a book and the Committee will then pay the actual cost. Mrs. Curry asked if there were any suggestions which the Committee would like for Mrs. Igo to present to the West Texas Library System Advisory Council at its meeting November 4 in Crosbyton. There were no suggestions. The Committee agreed to send a letter to the members of the Legislative Budget Board urging their support for full funding of the Texas State Library's budget for 1978 and 1979. The letters will be available for signing on Friday. Miss Smith reported that the Friends of the Library book sale at the Run- ning Water Draw Arts and Crafts Festival made 3408.31. The Committee com- piled the following priority list for recommendation to the Friends for projects for the money: 1. Microfilm/Microfiche Reader/Printer 2. Cover for windows between the office and work- room areas and the circulation area 3. Sculpture for circulation 4. Microfilm reader The meeting was adjourned at 7:52 p. m.
