HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-07-1976 Library Board MinutesUNGi R MEMORIAL LIBR: RY ADV.I ORY CCi4 :IT2EE June 7, 1976 The regular meeting of the Unger Memorial Literary Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:20 p.u., Monday, June 7, 1976, in the Library Conference Room by Mrs. Mervyn Igo, President. Present were Malcolm Tisdel, Ruby Curry, Dee Ann Curry, and Judy Smith, Librarian. The minutes of the April 5, 1976, meeting were approved as presented. The Librarian's reports for April and May were presented. Mrs. Igo read a response to the Committee's April letter to school principals from the. principal ani some teachers at Ash Learning Center. It was suggested that a similar letter listing library services and asking for cooperation be sent to all principals in August. The reaction to the Committee's letter was generally favor- able. Mrs. Igo also presented:_he application for booth space at the Running Water Draw .Arts and Crafts Festival for the Friends of the Library used book sale. She will check with Judge Boyd before she completes and returns the application. Mrs. Igo will discuses the possibility of obtaining radio spot announce- ments similar to the ones on Lubbock radio stations with Bill Ste;aart when she is in Lubbock on Friday. Mrs. Igo announded that she has written a series of three articles on library services for the Plainview Daily Herald. The articles will be run with pictures. Mise Smith introduced Dee Ann Curry who explained plans for the County Outreach Proaram. She stated that films had been ordered and confirmed.. The Ccutittee then discussed some of the more pressing building main- tenance problems Miss Smith was instructed to contact Harold Gladman to make arrangements for discussing this list with the Committee. The list included the following, the front door, stair wall, emergency doors for the east doors, cracks in walls, display area for framed art, map display area, emergence lights, paint, irofessional window cleaners, lack of replacement lamps for lighting, leak in basement wall, a,d placement of time clock.
