May 11,2010
Members present were Sharon Morgan and Hayley Cox. New member introduced was
Kenna Hatch who is replacing Kim Horne. Also present were Lucile Davis (WTLS Lay
Representative) and the new Genealogical Society President Carolyn Courtney.
John started the meeting by reminding everyone that Hayley Cox would soon be getting
married and resigning her position on the board since she will be moving out of town.
The quilters display was praised and the attention it brings to the library from the public
commended.
John reviewed the budget projections for 2010-2011. He stated the budget would remain
mostly status quo, but hoped it would include a cost -of -living raise for the staff. Funds
from the West Texas Library System (WTLS) involves approximately $9,000 which,
with the approval from the State Library, will be used to continue the purchase of
professional books and periodicals and paperbacks from Paperback Parade. For the
upcoming new fiscal year these funds are also being designated to help with the purchase
of books on CD and DVDs.
Lucile Davis asked about the window and electrical projects. John explained what was
going on with the request by the City Manager, Greg Ingham, for an energy efficiency
grant for the library as well as other city buildings. John stated the grant is still in the
workings, but looks hopeful.
John reviewed the programs already scheduled for this year's Summer Reading Club.
Several of the members mentioned other program ideas to consider.
John reminded everyone about the Blood Drive on Friday, May 28.
Meeting was dismissed at 4:45.
The next meeting will be the second Tuesday in October.
