HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-2854WATERMRATE ADJUSTMENT' ORDINANCE NO. 90-2854 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, AMENDING' SECTION 24-44, ENTITLED "WATER RATES, BILLINGS" OFT HE CODE OFT HE CITY OF .PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WIIEREAS, the City of Plainview, Texas provides water citizens; and to its WHEREAS, the City Council is charged with the responsibility of establishing water rates in order to insure that the services provided are maintained at an acceptable level; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an increase in the fees charged for such services is necessary to insure the continued viability of said program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, that Section 24-44 entitled "Water .Rates, Billings" of the Code of the City of Plainview, Texas is hereby amended and shall henceforth read as follows: Section 24-44. Water Rates, Billings- ~ ' The City shall charge and collect, and every consumer of water '~hall pay for the water furnished by the CitY to the consumer the amounts calculated by application of the rates to metered readings as provided in this chapter. A. The following are established aJ the monthly rates to be charged for water furnished by the City of Plainview for all consumers, unless otherwise noted: The City shall make a minimum monthly charge of eight dollars and twenty five cents ($8-25), to each consumer using City water. An additional charge of .90 for each one thousand (1,000) gallons shall be made on all water consumed- The net amount due may be paid on or before the past due date printed on the bill. Ail payments must be in the possession of the utility accounting department by the 5:00 P. M. close of business on the past-due date to prevent a penalty charge being assessed. Penalty on delinquent bills. A one-time penalty of ten (10) per cent of the total utility bill shall be assessed on all bills not paild'on or before the past-due date printed on the bill. All payments must be in the possession of the utility accounting department by the 5:00 P- M. close of business on the past-due date to prevent a penalty charge being assessed. The gross due, which ~cludes penalty, shall be the amount due after 5:00 P- M. on the past-due date. B. Ail rates and charges for utility services shall be billed on one bill. Payment of the amount due on such bill shall be in full for the total amount billed. Partial payments will not be accepted'without prior approval from the Water' Department. Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective with the billings after April 1, 1991. Passed and Approved this~ day of January, 1991. E. V.
