Chris LeFevre called the meeting to order at 12:10 P.M. Board Members in attendance were Frances Barrera, Paul Drager, Chris LeFevre, Beverly McCaskill, Janice Payne as well as Main Street Manager Melinda Brown. The October minutes were approved with no corrections. Paul moved to accept these minutes as presented. Frances seconded the motion. Motion was passed unanimously. Organization Committee - Melinda discussed upcoming Board applications. Janice will have completed her term on the Main Street Board, so her spot will be open. Four other Board members are also up for reconsideration (Dr. Graves, Frances, Debbie & Diane). Melinda has contacted those four board members and received applications from Frances and Debbie. Melinda noted that she would like to present the applications to the City Council in December so the Board can move forward with meetings in January. Beverly presented the updated map. The Board was happy with the cover and type of paper. The key was not updated like the designer had been directed and the map that was used included businesses that didn't need to be listed on the map. The committee voiced the opinion that the Courthouse, City Hall & Post Office should stay as landmarks on the map but no businesses listed. Beverly made a motion to have Susan create the map with a better designed key. Janice seconded the motion and the motion was passed unanimously. Design Committee — Melinda announced and thanked the volunteers who helped check the lights and that they would be put on the poles beginning the week of November 16th. That would give Excel and anyone else who had to make electrical repairs plenty of time to get those made by the Christmas parade on December 3rd Janice announced that she would like to start a banner program for downtown. Non -profits could purchase the banners to advertise their events. It would be great advertising for them and a great display feature for downtown. Melinda suggested that Janice bring a plan with dollar amounts to the next Main Street meeting for the Board to review. Promotion Committee — Melinda gave an update on past events downtown: 2nd Friday Sidewalk Sale — not too successful due to weather, Movies at the Fair — Interesting movies but not much participation and Downtown Trick or Treat — hugely successful. November 2nd Friday will be the Turkey Trot with the YMCA. Melinda will email the Board and any members who wish to volunteer need to let her know and what T-shirt size they will like. Volunteers will need to be available from 4:30 — 6:30 on the 13t". Lance Moore will be selling turkey legs and there will be a Craft Brew Festival in several downtown businesses. Melinda presented an ad package from the Plainview Herald similar to the National Mail -It campaign. Main Street would contribute $100/month and the paper would run a section 2x month on Wednesday with 6 ad spaces specifically for downtown businesses. The ads would start at $100 and would be given cheaper frequency rates. The Herald ad reps would be responsible for selling and designing the ads. Beverly made a motion that Main Street Board contribute $100 a month to this project. Paul seconded the motion and the vote was passed unanimously. Melinda updated the Board on Shop Local campaign. All the bags were passed out with the logo on them and Melinda encouraged all the businesses to use the Shop Local decal.
