BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Ron Roberts, Jeremy Searsy, Junior Rodriguez, Manuel Gonzales and Ralph
Langley. Members Not Present: Ricky Mason and Henry Trevino.
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Cris Valverde - Community Development Director, Larry Hunter — City
Inspector, Robert Zapata — City Inspector and Judy Rasher- Secretary.
GUESTS PRESENT: Philip Mize, Fire Marshal.
Called to order by Ron Roberts at 7:00 p.m. Invocation given by Ralph Langley.
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of March 3rd, 2016 Minutes. Motion to approve minutes as
presented was made by Ralph Langley, and seconded by Jr. Rodriguez. Motion carried unanimously.
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Appoint Co- Chairman. Motion to elect Ricky Mason as co- chairman
was made by Ralph Langley and second by Jeremy Searsy. Motion carried unanimously.
THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Discussion regarding adopting the 2015 Edition of the International
Codes (No action to be taken).
Philip Mize presented to the board a draft summary of significant changes relating to the 2015
International Fire Code. The changes will be from the 2009 to the 2015 edition. The only changes that
were made are the code section numbers. There was an amendment in Chapter 9, Section 903.2.8,
which reads as follows: "An automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with section 903.3 shall
be provided throughout all buildings with a Group R fire area. One and two family dwellings shall be
exempt from this requirement. Nothing in this Ordinance prohibits the installation of a fire system if the
owner of a one or two family dwelling desires to have one installed, but has to be installed according to
NFPA standards.
Larry Hunter presented to the board a summary of significant changes relating to the adoption of the
2015 International Mechanical Code, Chapters 1 through 15. Larry presented the changes regarding
Chapters 3 through 9 and Chapter 11. The changes in these sections were modified, added or clarified
from the 2012 to the 2015 Mechanical Code. There are no changes in Chapters 1, 2, 10, 12, 13, 14 and
15 of the 2015 International Mechanical Code.
