Main Street Board Meeting

Minutes
The Main Street Program Coordinating Board met on April 4, 2016 in the City Council Chambers at City
Hall.
Board members present were Paul Drager, Andrea Glenn, Cynthia Gregory, Chris LeFevre, Logan
Pritchett, and Diane Book. Also present was Melinda Brown. Tori Huddleston, and Susan Blackerby.
Chris LeFevre called the meeting to order at 12:06 p. m.
The minutes from the March meeting had been previously reviewed by Board members via email. Paul
made the motion to accept the minutes as presented and Logan seconded the motion. There was no
opposition.
There were no Duty Affirmation signatures taken at this meeting.
Andrea read the Vision and Mission of Main Street Program.
HOT Grant Reviews - two applications for grants were submitted: one from Ron Appling requesting
funds of $750 towards the Hale on Wheels Cycling event on September 17, 2016 and the other request
for grant funds of $750 was submitted by Kevin Carter for the annual meeting of The High Ground of
Texas to be held on May 5, 2016. Paul moved to accept both applications for funds and Andrea
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
ORGANIZATION COMMITTEE - Cynthia had no report at this time.
DESIGN COMMITTEE - With Texas Tech bowing out of assisting the Board with design ideas for Main
Street, the City has hired a private firm from Dallas to suggest ideas for the area Broadway Street to Ash
Street and 5th Street to 11th Street.
PROMOTION COMMITTEE - 2nd Friday will be on April 8th with the theme of People & PETS. Covenant
will have one of the doctors available promoting exercise and fitness. And, PAWS will have available pet
adoptions while The Rusty Rose will promote a new line in the store of pet clothing. Upcoming events -
the Prather/Martin Comedy Show on April 23 rd. at the Fair Theater. Posters and Facebook will
advertise the show. Red White & Moo is to be held July 2nd around the Downtown Square. Parade
beginning at 10 A.M. ,The festival opens at 10:30-12:30 and fireworks in the evening.
Volunteers will need to be available to count attendance at the event.
ECONOMIC COMMITTEE - Logan reported that they would like to see of a quarterly report where
downtown businesses and property owners share new ideas, good information, hours of operation, etc.
with copies sent out to the businesses/owners.
With no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:38 P.M.
