Board Members in attendance were Diane Book, Paul Drager, Andrea Glenn, Cynthia Gregory, Chris LeFevre, Beverly McCaskill, and Logan Pritchett. Also present was Main Street Coordinator, Melinda Brown, and Tori Huddleston. Chris called the meeting to order at 12:10 P.M. The minutes from the May meeting had been previously reviewed through an email sent to each member. There were no corrections. Paul made a motion to accept these minutes as read while Andrea seconded the motion. Melinda then read the Vision and Mission Goals. Organizational Committee - Cynthia reported that the possibility of a column on news of events of Main Street in the Plainview Daily herald would probably not happen as the newspaper was not particularly fond of the idea due to other organizations wanting the same given space to report their activities also. It was not a definite NO from the Herald but because of the amount of advertising from Main Street already purchasing, they could still accept the request. The committee will also check into being included in the Club News already available in the paper. Design Committee - Melinda met with the Design Planners on the site visit. A report of this visit will be ready towards the end of June. Plainview City Staff members along with Melinda, will first view the report of suggestions/ideas/evaluations the Planners came up with from the visit. These ideas etc. will then be presented to the Main Street Board. Promotion Committee - Melinda gave the update on 2nd Friday with the theme of Agriculture and Family Health. Dr. King will be present for the Walk with the Doc encouraging good nutrition in families. The movie "Finding Nemo" will play at 7 p.m. In the Fair Theater with admission fee of $1.00 per person. Red White &Moo will be held July 2nd in coordination with other holiday events held the same day-the Parade, the Dairy festivities and City Fireworks. Main Street will help by providing volunteers for the parade lineup and directing the route at 9:15, setting up tables-chairs around the court house at 10:15, judging the parade entrants (Best Theme, Overall, and People’s Choice) and crowd count at 12:30. Festivities will begin around the Square about 12. Included with the vendors will be bouncy houses, petting zoo, dairy tours. The Texas Tech Masked rider and the West Texas A&M Herdsman will be in attendance. Ending the day’s festivities will be the Chamber of Commerce sponsored FIreworks. Economic Structuring - Logan and his committee will begin putting together the Downtown Business Packets. In regard to the July meeting, the 4th falls on Monday of a scheduled Board meeting. Beverly made a ?? motion to cancel the July meeting and Cynthia seconded the motion. There was no opposition . Any new projects need to be organized for presentation by the August meeting. Beverly motioned for the meeting to be adjourned and it was seconded by Andrea. It was 12:42 p.m. Respectively submitted, Diane Book
