following~absent: None, constituting a quorum, at v~nich time the
following, among other business, was transacted, to-wAr:
Alderman Kiker introduced a proposed resolution.
The resolution ~as read in full. therehpon. Alderman Hancock
made a motion that the resoluiion be passed and adopted. The motion
was seconded by Alderman FroEge . The motion carried by the
following vote:

NOES: None.
The ~iayor announced that the resolution had been finally
passed and adopted. The resolution is as follows:

~.~Ei~A~ under and by virtue of an ordinance passed by
the Oity Council of the City o~ Plainview, Tex~, on the llth
day cf ~ugust, 19~8, an election was called to be held in said
City on~ the~ 2;0th day o£ August 19Z8 at which election the fol-
lowing propositions were submitted:
PllOPOS ITION
"Shall. the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas,
be a~.thorized to issue Zhe bonds o£ the City o£ Plainview,
Texas, in the sum o£ Thirty-Six Thousand Dollars (~35,000)
bearing interest at the rate of Four per cent ~%) per an-
num, maturing ~erially October l, 19&l te 1950, and to levy
a Zax sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and pro-
vide a sinking fund with which to pay the principal at mat-
~rity, for the purpose Of constructing and equipping a city
hall within the city of l~_ainview, Texas and purchase o£
site therefor, as authorized by the Constitution and ~aws
o£ the State of Texas?"
PROPOSITION ii.
"Shall. the city ~ouncil of the City of Plainview, Texas,
be authorized to issue the b~snds of the 0it~ of Plainview,
Texas, in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars (~lO,O00.O0)
bearing interest at the rate o£ Fo~r per cent (4%) per
annum, maturing serially October l, 19&l to 1950, and to
levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds
and provide a sinking £und with which to pay the principal
at maturity, for the purpose of co.nstr~etion and improve-
~ent of ~treets of the City off Plainview, Texas, as auth-
orized by the Constitution and laws of the State' of Texas?"

election, it appearing that the same was in-all respects legally

THFL~P0~E, BE:IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 0F
~ THE CITY OF PLAI~LE?~, TEXAS:
~ That the proposition to issue bonds~ for the purpose
of construction and improvement of streets and levy of ~ ~ax in
payment thereof was sustained by a majority of the qu&lified voters
of said City voting at~ maid.election who own taxable property in
said City ~ud who had duly rendered the same for taxation, and that
the 0ity Council of said City is authorized to issue said bonds and
to provide for the payment~of p~incipal of and interest on said bonds
in the time and manner prescribed by law.
That the proposition to issue bonds for the purpose
of constructing and equipping a city hall and purchase of site
therefor and the levy~ef a tax in Dayment thereof was defeated.
