HomeMy WebLinkAbout508 Ordinancethe town of Plainview, Hale Count~,':'Texas; and ~\q~EREAS, said above described lo~s are locmated in and are a part off.an addition or plot now being used by a Mexican Settlement; and WHEREAS, the Catholic Church desires to foster, promote and con- struc~t a church building and schoolhouse on the above described lots for the use and benefit of the Mexican settlement, and that the Most Reverand Bishop of Amarillo Diocese, Laurence Fitz Simon, and his suc- cessors in office, has agreed to accept title to the four above de- scribed lots for such purpose, if the same is conveyed ~o him and his successors in office by the ~ity of Plainview, Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVtE~&~, TEXAS, in regular session, this 16th 1945. that day of JULY, A.D. Lots Nos. 29, 30, 31, and 32, in Block No. 7, Frisco Addition to the town of Plainview, H~te ~County, ..Texas, be Conveyed to the Most Reverend Bishop of Amarillo Diocese, Laurence Fitz Simon and his suc- cessors in office, and that Mayor J;N..Jordan be and he is hereby au- thorized and directed to execute a deed to the Most Reverend Bishop of A~aarill~ Diocese, Laurence Fitz SimGon and his successors in office, which shall be dul~ attested by the City Secretary under the seal of ~ai.d City, and that said deed be delivered to said Bishop for accept- anc e .. Plainview, Texas, August 20, 1945. The City-Council met in regular meetig with the following mem~ bets present. Mayor, J.N.Jordan, Aldermen: Ben F.Smith, ~.C.Malone, LoM.Frogge, E.M.0sborne and C.H.Hancock. City ~ax Collector, P.H. Bryan, and City ~ttorney, Frank R.Day, attended the meeting. Minutes of the last regular meeting, also, minutes of the joint meeting Off,he Hlae County Commissioners Court and the Conncil of the City of Plainview, Texas, which meeting was held on August, 13th, was re~d ~nd adopted. Motion by Alderman Osborne, seconded by Alderman Frogge, that the following ordinance be passed, and. adophed.. The motian was car- ried and the ordinance follows. That there be and is hereby levied for the year 1945, an occupation tax equal to one-half (½) that levied by the State of Texas, upon all persons, firms and corporations, the following taxa- ble occupations within the city-of Plainview, Texas. SECTION 3. That the taxes shall be assessed by the tax assessor- 8ollector for the City~of Plainview, Texasm as required by Ordinance No..37.3 :, Vol. No. 6 , Page 287 of the minutes of the said city of Plainvle~v, Texas, and------under the i-~ws of the State of-Texas. J.N.jordan Mayor Motion by Alderman Hancock, seconded by Alderman Malone, that the City advertise for bids on laying water and. sewer lines-to the Ai~ort, said ~otice to be published in the Plainview Herald-News two issues and~ that said bids to be accepted and opened September 10, 1945, at 2 O'clock P.M.. The motion was carried and it was so ordered. Motion by ~ad~.:~sa~cand that W.J.Alexander-be appointed to a place in the polece department, and his salary to be $150.00 per month, also that E.0.Mickey be appointed to a place in the water department and his salary to be $1~0'.00, ~n~ .~ha~o~h~asa~ar¥ie~ A~.Ee.r~a~ Be ~nd~a~d $10.00 per month.
