ADVISORY COUNCIL IMEETING
APRIL 18, 2017

*The meeting was called to order by Vice -President Joe Provence. Rodney Watson gave the
invocation.
* Minutes of the March 14th meeting were approved.
*Irma gave the financial report for February.
*Dahlia Bight of Lockney is the Volunteer of the Month.
* "My Dad Reads to Me" has slowed down. Many of the guardians are not responding to our
letters.
*The_ April_ Birthday. Recognition was April 12th.at McDonald's.
*The National Day of Service at the City Council was a big success.
*WBU Enactus. offered a. Computer Literacy class for RSVP volunteers and seniors on April 1
and:15.
*Grantreports are due by the end of the month_
*Clean-up on the Hike & Bike Trail will be Wednesday, April 19`h at 5:00 PM. RSVP will start at
Date Street and work west while 4-H will start at Quincy and work east.
*Irma attended CNCS sponsored training event on "Elevating the Role of RSVP in Disaster
Response".
*All the spots at the community gardens have been taken.
*National Volunteer Week. is April 23-29. Senior Corps Week is May 15-19. A movie night at
the Fair Theatre is planned for Thursday, May 18th. Popcorn, water, candy and sodas will be
available.
*Irma is looking for a special feature story for Senior Corps Week.
*Lunch Bunch will meet on April 27`h. Cassie Pfeiffer with the USDA Rural Development will
give the program on home repair and low interest financing options for this area.
*The next meeting will be May 9th.
*Twyla reported a total of 342 volunteers with 211 serving 5234 hours.
*Meeting was adjourned.
