ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING
MARCH 14, 2017

*The meeting was called to order by Vice -President Joe Provence. Nicki Logan gave the
invocation.
* Minutes of the February 14th meeting were approved.
*Irma gave the financial report for January.
*Claudine and Eugene Carter are the Volunteers of the Month.
* "My Dad Reads to Me"celebrates celebrates its 10e anniversary. Since it began, 603 dads have been
recorded reading to 1181 children and 3654 books have been shipped.
*The March Birthday Recognition was March 8th at McDonald's with 11 volunteers present.
*April 4s` will be the 2017 Day of Recognition of National Service in Texas. The Mayor will
issue a proclamation during the City Council meeting on March 28h. RVSP council members and
volunteers are encouraged to attend.
*WBU Enactus will be offering a Computer Literacy class for seniors on Saturday, April l and
15 at 11:00 AM on the Wayland campus.
*The Year 2 continuation grant required two minor corrections.
*Clean-up on the Hike & Bike Trail will be Wednesday, April rat 5:00 PM. RSVP will start at
Date Street and work west while 4-H will start at Quincy and work east.
*The City Council has reappointed Nicki Logan, Sally Phillips, Rodney Watson, Elsa Cooper and
Gary Stennett to the RSVP Advisory Council with terms to expire in December 2019.
*Irma will be attending a CNCS sponsored training event in San Antonio on April l 1'h -
*The date ofthe next meeting will be changed to April 18'b.
*A possible movie night for volunteers was discussed.
*Twyla reported a total of 351 volunteers with 212 serving 6053 hours.
*Meeting was adjourned.
