HomeMy WebLinkAboutRSVP Minutes 02-14-2017THE RUNNINGWATER DRAW RSVP ADVISORY COUNCIL'MEE'TING FEBRUARY 14, 2017 MEMBERS PRESENT: STAFF PRESENT: Gary Stennett Gail Thrasher Irma Shackelford Carol Schulz Emma Herring Twyla Woodring Gail Williams Bobbye Dennis Elsa Cooper Rodney Watson Joe Provence *The meeting was called to order by President Gary Stennett. Ronnie Dennis was introduced as a guest. * Minutes of the January 10th meeting were approved. *Irma gave the financial report for December. She reported cost of the Open House was $199.28. *Irma thanked Gary far talking about RSVP on the radio. *E.L. (Junior) is the Volunteer of the Month. * ' My Dad Reads to Me" is busy. Sixteen dads have been recorded reading to 35 children and 94 books have been shipped. *The February Birthday Recognition was February 8th at McDonald's. * Irma reported that everything has been completed from the monitoring visit. She also reported that all required reports were submitted on time. *April e will be the 2017 Day of Recognition of National Service in Texas. Irma hopes to have RSVP on the City Council's agenda as part of the celebration. *The resource notebook for returning veterans has been', updated. *Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was celebrated on January 13'' with volunteers from RSVP, Wayland, and Hale County Literacy Center taking part. 'RSVP received thank you notes from Mrs. Patridge's class. *Valentine's Day gigs will be delivered to area veterans in nursing homes, assisted living and senior housing. *Darlene Armstrong, an RSVP volunteer in Olton, lost her home in a recent fire. *WBU Enactus will be offering a Computer Literacy class for seniors. *The Silver Star Room of the Hi -Plains, APS and RSVP will host the CASE meeting on February 28'b. *The annual golf tournament is scheduled for June 17'x'. "Save the date" cards will be mailed out. *Lunch Bunch will meet on February 23" � at 806 Pizza. *Twyla reported a total of 355 volunteers with 215 serving 5398 hours. * The next meeting will be March 14, 2017. *Meeting was adjourned.
