ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING
JANUARY 10, 2017

*The meeting was called to order by President Gary Stennett. Joe gave the invocation.
* Minutes of the November 15th meeting were approved.
*Peggy Alexander and Peggy Carson were recognized as volunteers of the month.
*Irma gave the financial report for October and November. She reported the raffle made
$1370.
* "My Dad Reads to Me" is busy. Eleven dads have been recorded reading to 24 children
and 78 books have been shipped.
*The January Birthday Recognition will be January 11th at McDonald's.
* Irma reported on the findings of the monitoring visit with the state officer, Mary Rolle.
An Annual Program Assessment needs to be done by the Advisory Council. Irma
reported that of that some of the RSVP stations need to be in a different category. The
RSVP Policies and Procedures Manual needs to be revised.
*Breakfast with Santa went well. There were 358 meal tickets sold_ There was a profit
of $851.43.
*The RSVP Christmas Open House had good attendance.
*RSVP and Hale County Literacy Council members will be at LaMesa on January 13th
to read to the 2"d graders in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
*Irma has several important reports due by the end of the month.
*The golf tournament was discussed.
*Goals and objectives for 2017 were presented. Board members completed survey forms.
*Twyla reported a total of 365 volunteers in October with 223 serving 6045 hours and
358 volunteers in November with 128 serving 4411 hours.
* The next meeting will be February 14, 2017.
