AN ORDINanCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING, STOPPING OR STANDING OF
ANY MOTOR VEHICLE ON THE WEST SIDE OF A PORTION OF INDEPENDENCE
STREET ADJACENT TO LAKESIDE SCHOOL PROPERTY AND ON THE EAST AND
WEST SIDE OF A PORTION OF JOLIET STt~ET LOCATED ADJACENT TO
LAKESIDE SCHOOL PROPERTY; AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY.
WHEREAS, congestion of traffic on Independence Street and
Joliet Street in the City of ~lainview, Texas, located adjacent
to Lakeside School property makes it advisable for the health,
safety and welfare of children attending said Lakeside School
to prohibit the parking, stopping or standing of motor vehicles
of any kind on a part of Independence Street and a part of Joliet
Street located adjacent to Lakeside School~
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW:
SECTION 1: Parking, stopping or standing of any kind of
motor vehicle on the west side of that part of Independence
Street from the North Boundary Line of the intersection of
West 18th Street and Independence Street north along the west
side of Independence Street for a distance of one hundred fifty
feet (150') is prohibited.
Parking, stopping or standing of any kind of motor vehicle
on the east side of that part of Joliet Street from the North
Boundary Line of the intersection of West 18th Street and Joliet
Street north along the east side of Joliet Street for a distance
of one hundred two feet (102') is prohibited.
Parking, stopping or standing of any kind of motor vehicle
on the west side of that part of Joliet Street from the North
Boundary Line of the intersection of! West 18th Street and Joliet
Street north along the west side of Joliet Street for a distance
of two hundred ninety feet (290') is. prohibited.
SECTION 2: Ail ordinances or parts of any ordinance of the
City of Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith are hereby amended
to conform with the provisions hereof.
SECTION 3: Any person who shall, violate or fail to comply
with any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine in a sum of not less than One Dollar ($1.00),
nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).
SEVERANCE CLAUSE: That should any section, paragraph,
sentence, clause, phrase or work of this ordinance be declared
unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of
this ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
That the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of this ordinance in the PlainviewDaily Herald in
accordance with Articel 13, Section 101 of the City Charter of the
City of Plainview.
AND IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLAINVIEW:
That on a motion by Alderman SoRelle, seconded by Alderman
Almon, Ordinance No. 78-2277 was read in full and adopted this
date and introduced on first reading this the 10th day of October,
1978.
That on a motion by Alderman Browning, seconded by Alderman
Carpenter, Ordinance No. 78-2277 was read by caption and adopted
by the City Council on the second and final reading this the
24th day of October, 1978.
