AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING, STOPPING OR STANDING
OF ANY MOTOR VEHICLE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET IN THE
2500 BLOCK OF WEST EIGHT STREET IN THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS: AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY.
WHEREAS, congestion of traffic in the 2500 Block of West
Eighth Street in the City of Plainview, Texas, located adjacent
to the Wayland Baptist College Bowl parking lot, makes it
advisable for the health and safety of the citizens of t~.e
City of Plainview to prohibit the parking, stopping or standing
of motor vehicles of any kind on both sides of the street in
the 2500 Block of West Eighth Street, Plainview, Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PI
SECTION 1: Parking, stopping or standing of any kit
motor vehicle on both sides of the street in the 2500 Bi¢
West Eighth Street, Plainview, Texas, from the intersectJ
West Eighth Street and Xenia Street west along both side~
West Eighth Street to the intersection of Yonkers and We~
Street~ is prohibited.
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of any ordinanc~
City of Plainview, Texas, in conflict herewith are hereb~
to conform with the provisions hereof.
SECTION 3: Any person who shall w~olate or fail to comply
with any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be defamed
guilty of a misdeameanor upon conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine in a sum of not less than One Dollar ($1.00)
nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).

SEVERANCE CLAUSE: That should any section, paragraph,
sentence, clause, phrase or wor~ of this ordinance be declared
unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of
this ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
That the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of this ordinance in the Plainview Daily Herald
in accordance with Article 13, Section 101 of the City Charter
of the City of Plainview.
AND IT IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW:
That on a motion by Alderman Browning, seconded by Alderman
Almon, Ordinance No. 78-2280was read in full and adopted this
date and introduced on first reading this the 5th day of December,
1978.
That on a motion by Alderman Woods,. seconded by Alderman
Almon, Ordinance No. 78-2280 was read by caption and adopted
by the City Council on second and final reading this the 5th
day of December, 1978.
