AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 77-2090 PROVIDING
.FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF THREE ALTERNATE MEMBERS TO SERVE
ON THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of ,Plainview,
Texas has determined that it would be in the best interest of
the public to appoint alternate members to serve at the regular,
special or emergency meetings of the Board of Adjustment in the
absence of a member of said Board.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS:
Section 35.01 "Organization and Procedure" (b) "Composition"
of the Board of Adjustment of the City of Plainview, Texas, is
hereby amended to read as follows:
35.01
Organization and Procedure
b. Composition
The Board shall consist of five (5) members.
Ail members appointed shall not at the time
of appointment or during their term of office
serve on any other authority, board, commission
or committee of the City of Plainview. All
members appointed shall be residents of the
City of Plainview at the time of their appoint-
ment and during their term of office.
Alternate Members: CitY Council .shall appoint
a first .alternate, second alternate, and third
alternate member of the Board of Adjustment to
serve at the regular, special or emergency
meetings of the Board of Adjustment in the
absence of a member of such Board. Any alter-
nate member serving on the Board at a regular,
special or emergency meeting of the Board of
Adjustment shall be a voting member with all
of the duties and authorities of a Board member.
THAT Section 35.01 "Organization and Procedure" (c)
"Appointment" of the Board of Adjustment of the City Council of
the City of Plainview is hereby amended to read as fOllows:

c. Appointment
The members of the Board shall be appointed
by the City Council. Two members of the
Board shall be appointed beginning January 1
in odd numbered years and three (3) members
of the Board shall be appointed beginning
January 1 in even numbered years. No person
shall serve more than two (2) successive terms
as a member of the Board. Any term of office
of any member of the'Board expiring other than
on December 31 in any year shall be filled by
appointment by the City Council until December 31
of that year.
The first alternate, second alternate, and
third alternate members of the Board shall be
appointed by the City Council. The three (3)
members of the Board shall be appointed begin-
ning January 1 in even numbered years. No
person shall serve more than two (2) successive
terms as an alternate member of the Board.
Any term of office of any alternate member of
the Board expiring other than on December 31,
in any year shall be filled by appointment by
the City Council until December 31 of that
year.
