WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determin~d that it would be in the best interes~ of the public that ~he name of a portion of West 28th Street be renamed, said portion being described as follows, to-wit: All of,~.he 3500 and 3600 Blocks of West 28th Street, located, in Western Meadows Addition, Unit ~2, City of Plainvi w, Hale County, Texas· WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has further etermined that the location of the above described portion is nct truly located on 28th Street; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that by renaming the street that it will eliminate the confusion of locating it by the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAI5 ~IEW, TEXAS: SECTION ~: The 3500 and 3600 Blocks of West 28th Street, located in W~ ~tern Meadows Addition, Unit #2, City of Plainview, Hale County, ~exas, is hereby changed from West 28th Street to Red Oak Lane. SECTION : Ail o~dinances or part of any ordinance of the City of Plain ~iew, Tex~s, in conflict herewith are hereby amended to conform wi~:h the provisions hereof. Box 1870 P!ainview, TX 79072 Dear Sirs: The residents of West 28th Street in Wesvern Meadows addition have signed this petition -to initiate a change of the s-~reet n~me. It has been brought to our attention that there is confusion between the Wesz 28th Street in Weste~ Meadows and the West 28th Street in Thun- derbird addition. We feel the duplication will create constant problems with mail delivery, delivery of services~ and the location of residenzs by visitors. Because of these problems, we the residents of West 28th Street pro- pose a name change from West 28th Streez to one of the following: Red Oak Lane Oakwood Lane ORDINANCE NO. 81-2455 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PARALLEL PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE STREET IN THE 700 BLOCK OF WEST 7TH STREET, PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, FROM THE WEST SIDE OF THE ALLEY IN SAID 700 BLOCK WEST FOR A DISTANCE OF ONE HUNDRED THIRTY SIX FEET (136') TO THE INTERSECTION OF WEST 7TH STREET AND GALVESTON STREET AND PRO- VIDING A PENALTY. WHEREAS, the congestion of traffic at the intersection of West 7th Street and Galveston Street, Plainview, Texas has created a traffic hazard; and ' WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that parking on the North side of West 7th Street in the 700 Block from the West side of the alley in said Block West for a distance of 136' to the intersection of West 7th Street and Galveston Street should be restricted to parallel parking only. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: SECTION 1: Ail motor vehicles which are parked on the North side of West 7th Street in the following designated area shall be parallel with the curb: BEGINNING at the West boundary line of the alley in the 700 Block of West 7th Street; WEST for a distance of 136' feet to the intersection of West 7th Street and Galveston Street, Plainview, Texas. SECTION 2: Ail ordinances or part of any ordinance of the City of Plainview in conflict herewith are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof. SECTION 3: Any person who shall violate or fail to comply with any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $200.00.
