ORDINANCE NO. 86-2636-
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LINES OF .THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS AND THE
ANNEXATION'OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 46.35
ACRES OF LAND,. WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO
AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT LIMITS: OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS AND WITHIN THE EXTRA-TERRITORIAL
JURISDICTION OF SAID ..CITY.
WHEREAS., a public hearing before the City Council of the
City of Plainview,. Texas where all interested persons-were
provdedwith an o ortunit to be heard on the ro osed

annexation of the following described terrtoryc
Being a 46.35 acre tract out of the_westpart of Survey
No. 27, Block JK-2, Hale County, Texas:
BEGINNING at the northwest .corner of a 23.76 acre tract
of land annexed November 26, 1985, by Ordinance No. 85-2625
as xecorded in Volume '731, page 779 of the Hale County Deed
Records, said corner being in the west line and 1274.38 feet
N.0°20'32"W. of the southwest corner of Survey No. 27, Block
JK-2, Hale County, Texas:
Thence 5.89°59'30"E. 1353.57 feet to the northeast
corner of said 23.76 acre tract,-said corner being in the
-west line of said 15.152 acre tract of'land annexed October
28, 1980, by ordinance No: 80-2422. and in the west right of
way line. of Mesa Drive;
Thence N.-0°00'30"E. 1476.54 feet along said tract and
the west line of Mesa Drive and its ro'ectio
n to the

northwest corner of said. 15.152 .acre tract,. said corner
being in the south line of the Canadian River Municipal
Water Authority 66 foot wide easement as recorded in Volume
491, page 96 of the Hale County:. Deed Records;
Thence N. 89°08'35"W. 1362.88'feet along the south-line
of. said easement to a ;point in the west line of said survey;
Thence S.0°20'32"E. 1496.75 feet along the west line of
said survey. to the POINT OF BEGINNING and containing 46.35
acres.
WHEREAS, said hearing being held at the City Council
Chambers of .the City of Plainview on the 25th day of
February, 1986, which date is not more than: twenty (20) days
nor less than. ten (10} days after the institution of
annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, Notice of such Public Hearing was published. in
a newspaper having general circulation in the City of
Plainview, Texas and im the above described territory on the
9th day of February, 1986, which date is not more than

twenty (20)'days.nor less than ten (10) days prior to the
pub is hearing on the-topic of annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Plainview, Texas
is approximately 25,000 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described:territory lies within the
extra-territorial jurisdiction of the City of Plainview,
Texas;.-and
WHEREAS, the territory above.described lies adjacent to
and adjoins. the City of Plainview, Texas; and
4VHEREAS,,a petition has been signed and acknowledged by
the. owners of all of the land in the above described
territory requesting the annexation of such territory by the
City of Plainview, Texas and such petition has. been filed
with the City Council,: of .the City of Plainview, Texas;
i~TOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of Plainview, Texas:
SECTION 1.-The following described .land and territory.
lying adjacent to and adjoining with the City of Plainview,
Texas is hereby added and annexed to the City of Plainview,
Texas and said territory hereinafter. described shall
hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City
of Plainview; T~exas_and the present boundary .limits of such
city,.. at the various points contiguous to the area
hereinafter des+cribed, are hereby altered and amended to as
to include said area within the corporate limits of the City
of Plainview, Texas to-wit:
Being.a 46.35 acre tract out of the west part of Survey
No. 27, Block JK-2, Hale County, Texas:
BEGINNING at .the northwest corner of a 23.76 acre tract
of land annexed November. 26, 1985,. by Ordinance No. 85-262.5
as recorded. in sJolume 731, page. 779: of the Hale County Deed
Records, said corner being in the west line-anc~ 1274.38 feet
N.0°20'32"W. of the southwest corner of Survey No. 27, Block
JK-2, Hale County, Texas:
Thence. S. 89°59'30"E. 1353.57 feet tothe..northeast corner
of said 23.76 acre tract; .said corner being in the west line
of said :15.152 acre tract of land annexed October 28, 1980,
by Ordinance No. 80-2422 and in the west right of way line
of Mesa Drive;.
Thence N.0°OU'30"E. 1476.54 feet along said tract and the
west line. of Mesa Drive and its projection to the northwest
corner of said 7L5.152 acre tract, said corner being in the
south line of the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority
66 foot wide easement as recorded in Volume 491, page 96 of
the Hale County Deed Records;

said easement t.o'a point in the west line of said survey;'
Thence S.0°2A'32"E.: 1495.75 feet along the .west line of
said survey to the-POINT OF BEGINNING-and containing .46.35
acres.
-SECTION 2. Thee. above described territory and the area so
annexed shall be apart of the City of Plainview, Texas and
the 'property sa added hall bear its pro rata part of the
taxes levied by the City of Plainview, Texas and the
inhabitants. thereof shall be :entitled. to all of the rights
and privileges of all of the citizens and shall be bound by
the acts, ordinances, and regulations of the City of
Plainview, Texas,
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be passed in the manner
provided by Charter of the-City of Plainview, Texas.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview, Texas on first reading this the 25th day of
February, 1986.
