The Main Street Coordinating Board met on February 6, 2017 at the Fair Theater. The Meeting was
called to order at 12:12 P.M.
Board Members in attendance were Andrea Glenn, Michael Graves, Cynthia Gregory, Logan Pritchard,
and Diane Book. Also present Melinda Brown and Tori Huddleston.
Andrea made the motion to accept December meeting minutes as presented. Logan seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Vision and Mission Goals - There was discussion of the need to reevaluate the Main Street Board goals
and needs for the downtown area.
Hot Grant application- One application has been submitted by Ron Appling for Hale On Wheels cycling
group. This event is planned for September 16, 2017. The amount requested from the Fund is $750 to
be used for the promotion of the upcoming event with the expectation of 150-200 cyclists from Texas,
New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Logan made the motion to accept and approve the request. Dr. Graves
seconded the motion and it passed.
Organization Committee - New Board Members will be ready to begin terms by February 14th. The
March meeting is planned for the 4 hour workshop for all Board members.
PLainview Main Street received no recognition from National Main Street Committee. A few
suggestions for This Board to put into play to possibly meet recognition requirements in the Main Street
Program are to include awareness of the Program to School Student Councils, Boy Scouts, & Girl Scouts,
to create a preservation month, to have more city recognition and to market the Program.
Design Committee - Melinda that the Concept Plan that had been presented to City Council at their
December workshop went well. ADA Grants will be used to update handicap ramps.
Promotion Committee - Carriage rides that had been planned but canceled due to inclement weather
will be Saturday, February 11th, 5-7p.m. Two carriages-possibly 3-will handle the number of expected
people to come to this event. Hot chocolate will be served and volunteers will be needed. Paul's
Journey will be at the Fair Theater on Friday, February 24th. Chad Prather will return to the Fair Theater
on April 21st.
Economic Structuring Committee - Melinda reports that she is still looking at variations of the Vacancy
Claus in like sized towns as Plainview. Also, need to get out of town property owners to clean up their
property.
