HomeMy WebLinkAbout04.03.17 Board Minutes ağźƓ {ƷƩĻĻƷ .ƚğƩķ aĻĻƷźƓŭ aźƓǒƷĻƭ ЍΏЉЌΏЋЉЊА The Main Street Coordinating Board met on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Fair Theater. The meeting was called to order by Melinda at 12:08 P.M. Board members in attendance were Andrea Glenn, Cynthia Gregory, Michael Graves, Logan Prichard, Diane Book, along with newly appointed members Patricia Garcia, Ranada Jack, MItesh Patel and Sylvia Suarez. Also attending Melina Brown, Coordinator and Tori Huddleston. The Oaths of Office for new members was led and directed by Belinda Hinojosa. The members looked over the February minutes. Andrea moved to accept the minutes as presented and Dr. Graves seconded the motion and it passed. Vision and Mission Goals- Melinda read the Goals. By May, the Board needs to address new ideas, rewrite another version, or start over with a new direction of goals to fit the Main Street Board. An updated Contact Information was passed out to all members. Hot Grant Applications-Three applications were submitted for review. Kenneth Hooper for Plainview Elks #1175 requested $750 for PanWest District Interlodge meeting April 21,22,23, 2017. The money to be used to purchase Plainview Bucks from the Chamber of Commerce to be placed in attendees gift bags. Michael Graves made a motion while Logan seconded it to not issue the grant money for coin usage but for items used for marketing. Passed. Doris Sanchez representing West Texas Tejano/Conjunto Group (WTTCG) is planning the 2nd Annual 16 de Septiember Tejano/Conjunto Festival to be held at Running Water Draw Park. They request $750 for promotional advertising through flyers, posters, tshirts, newspaper. One-two thousand people are expected to attend the event. A block of 10 hotel/motel rooms will available for performers. Andrea made a motion to accept and Cynthia seconded. Janice Payne for Rotary is having the Installation of District Governor of Charles Starnes from Plainview and 11 Assistant Governors at the Convention Center Friday, June 30, 2017 with possible Saturday tours in downtown Plainview. A request of $750 has been made for design, printing and mailing Save the Date cards and invitations to the Rotary 5730 members. Rotary,has in the past, used their own funds; no assurance of hotel stays; not a yearly repeat of a Plainview event; not a guarantee for Saturday activities is a concern in issuing the grant. Logan moved to table the request for more information and Andrea seconded-all in agreement. Organization Committee-nothing to report at this meeting Design Committee- the board is waiting for approval from the State Design Committee-it is in the 2nd phase of review. April is beautification month and the downtown businesses and property owners are encouraged to clean up storefronts, sidewalks and window, and to plant flowers in the barrels with soil provided by Main Street. Promotions Committee- volunteers are needed for upcoming events in town 1) April 8 - 3rd annual Cops for Kids at Running Water Draw Park 2) April 13 - PCA production of Letters to God at the Fair Theater 3) April 21 - Live Love Laugh Tour with Chad Prather & Cooper Wade at Fair Theater 4) April 22 - Walk A Mile in Her Shoes at the Courthouse for Crisis Center/abused wome Blondes vs. Brunettes at Bulldog Stadium for Alzheimer's 5) May 5-6 - Mark Marley Go Home Barbque Bash at Running Water Draw Park for ACS Economic Restructuring-not much going on New Business - the next meeting, in May, will elect President, Vice President, and Secretary for the new time period.
