HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.01.17 Board Minutes ağźƓ {ƷƩĻĻƷ .ƚğƩķ aĻĻƷźƓŭ aźƓǒƷĻƭ ЎΏЉЊΏЋЉЊА The Main Street Coordinating Board met on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Fair Theater. The meeting was called to order by Melinda at 2:09 P.M. Board members in attendance were Patricia Garcia, Cynthia Gregory, Michael Graves, Ranada Jack, Mitesh Patel, Logan Prichard, and Diane Book. Also present, was Melinda Brown and Tori Huddleston. Guests attending the meeting was Janice Payne representing Rotary and Kelli and Preston Allison for Contemporary Art Plainview. Introductions of the Members was made around the table for the guests. April minutes were reviewed followed by a motion from Logan, seconded by Ranada, to accept the minutes as presented. The motion passes. The Vision & Mission Goals - tabled to the next meeting. Officer nominations - for President, Patricia nominated Logan and Mitesh seconded it. Logan was elected unamously. Ranada was nominated for Vice President by Mitesh and seconded by Patricia-no opposition. Diane was nominated and elected with no opposition- motion made by Mitesh and seconded by Ranada. Hot Grant Applications-two were submitted, Janice Payne for Rotary appealed April's decision of denying the requested grant for their event (the installation of Rotary District Governor). She reported that much effort is being made to keep attendees in town an extra day to enjoy the offerings of the restaurants, museum, businesses, and shopping in town. Rotary is requesting $750 for printing invitations and advertising. Ramadan moved to accept the application and Logan seconded it. It passed. The 2nd application was submitted by the Plainview YMCA that is hosting the 14 yr. old Babe Ruth SW Regional Tournament held on July 20-24, 2017. The request was for $2000 to be used for advertising. Logan moved to Grant the maximum of $750. Passed. Facade Grant Application- one Application was submitted by Edward King dba Broadway Gifts & Antiques at 618 Broadway for the amount of $500 to be used on a new business sign and the removal of the previous sign. He presented invoices for $649.50 for his sign and for $450 for the removal of the old sign and the installation of the new sign. Patricia moved to approve the grant and Logan seconded the motion-$500 was granted. Organization Committee and Design Commitee- nothing to report for this meeting. Promotion Committee- upcoming events include Mark Marley Go Big Barbecue to be held May 5th -6th; Red, White, &Moo, to be held on July 4th downtown around the Courthouse. Main Street will do the Parade and will need volunteers from 9-10:30. The Dairies will have festivities around the Courthouse and the Fireworks will be set off along the Running Water Draw; The Summer Movie Program will begin June 14th and continue for 6 weeks every Wednesday morning and in the evening at the Fair Theater. Economic Restructuring- nothing to report. New Business- Kelli and Preston Allison and gave a presentation of their new business an Art Museum - Contemporary Art of Plainview. It is located at the NW corner of Sixth and Beech. Wanting to display big museum. They plan to host four major exhibitions through the year, workshops, and artist experimentations from Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana. Free admission with hours 10-5 Wednesday- Saturday. Cynthia moved to adjourn the meeting and Patricia seconded it at 12:49 P.M. Respectively submitted, Diane Book, Secretary
