HomeMy WebLinkAbout09.11.17 Board Minutes ağźƓ {ƷƩĻĻƷ .ƚğƩķ aĻĻƷźƓŭ aźƓǒƷĻƭ ВΏЊЊΏЋЉЊА The Main Street Coordinating Board met on Monday, September 11, 2017 at noon In the Fair Theater. Members attending the meeting were Patricia Garcia, Andrea Glenn, Cynthia Gregory, Ranada Jack, Diane Book, Melinda Brown, and Tori Huddleston. Andrea called the meeting to order at 12:19 P.M. The June Minutes were reviewed by members. Ranada made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Patricia seconded the move and the motion carried. Promotions: upcoming events downtown area are as follows: 1) Church Seminar at the Fair Theater - week long 2) 16 de September Tejano/Conjunto Festival-combined events at Broadway Park With vendors and music 3) Cowboy Parade-starts at 10:30A.M. Ending at Broadway Park with vendors and music 4) Fall Festival-to be held on Saturday, October 7, organized by Andrea Glenn, Will include a Chili Cookoff, kids activities, food, music, and shopping 5) Trick or Treat Downtown-to take place on Broadway, October 27th, 4-6 P.M. And a movie after treat handouts 6) Twelve Days of Christmas-December Hot Grants - an application submitted by Richard Miller for West Texas Fuze Shootout Held at Happy Union Gym, Plainview High School, Coronado, Estacado, and Ash Schools on June 16, 17. The application is a request for a reimbursement of funds used for the event. Ranada made a motion to grant $250 and Patricia seconded the motion. The motion passed. A second application submitted by Sandy Lindeman for Plainview High School 1962 Reunion on October 6th at Plainview Country Club. A motion by Patricia to grant $500 and Ranada seconded the motion and it carried. Incentive/Facade Grant - David O'Brien put in an application for monies to improve his business, O'Brien's Frames, at 706 Broadway-a new sign, red cedar trim, a new front door. He asked for $500. Cynthia placed the motion to grant the full amount; Patricia seconded the motion. It passed. Clean up day on October 14 th was discussed State Fair of Texas is asking for volunteers out of the Texas Plains Trail beginning Monday, October 2. No one from Plainview is planning to attend. Vision and Mission - the goal revisions of both Vision and Mission statements made at the June meeting were read aloud for verification. Ranada moved to accept the revisions as read while Patricia seconded the motion. Passed. Strategic Goal Planning - ideas/strategies for Main Street Board were set up at the June Meeting. Only one change was made at this time-clean up months would be April and October instead of September. Clean up days will be October 14th and 15th. Andrea adjourned the meeting at 1:14 P.M.
