ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

*The meeting was called to order by President Gary Stennett. Rodney Watson gave the
invocation.
*Special guests were Jo Ann Rogers and Dorothy Russell. Jo Ann is the Volunteer of the
Month.
* Minutes of the July 1 lth meeting were approved as presented.
*Irma gave the financial report for June. The golf tournament cleared $2,500.
*Volunteers made two trips to the prison for "My Dad Reads to Me". They recorded 13
dads reading to 18 children with 49 books being mailed.
*The August Birthday Recognition will be August 9th at McDonald's.
*Irma reported that all the grant reports have been submitted. on time.
*The community gardens are doing well.
*The project to clean the Hike and Bike Trail was successful.
*Plans for 44th Annual RSVP Banquet were discussed. Date will be October 171' at St.
Alice's with Weekends BBQ catering. The theme will be "Join Our Rising Stars".
*Plans are being made to honor veterans in nursing homes, assisted living and senior
living apartments on Patriot's Day (9/11).
*Janice Langley is the Community Service Chairman for the American Legion Auxiliary.
She would like to help with our Veterans program.
*Lunch Bunch will meet on August 31t_
*The next meeting will be September 12'.
*Twyla reported a total of 338 volunteers with 192 serving 4377 hours.
*Meeting was adjourned.
