Main Street Board Meeting
Minutes
07-02-2018
The Main Street Coordinating Board met on Monday, July 2, 2018 at noon in the Fair Theater.
Members attending the meeting were Ranada Jack, Andrea Glenn, Cynthia Gregory, Kelly Alison, Logan
Pritchet, Dora Sifuentes Sanchez, Tori Huddleston, Phyllis Wall, Jay Givens, and Melinda Brown.
Ranada called the meeting to order at 12:04 P.M.
Andrea moved that they be approved, Logon seconded, and the motion was
carried.
RELATIONSHIP ASSIGNMENTS:

Ranada talked about the building at 118 E. 5

United Methodist Church and Habitat for Humanity. The owner at 118 E. 5 is now interested in selling
the building.
The clean up is a good example of the vision Ranada has for the Relationship building project and she
mentioned that this was just one building and now we can do another.

Phyllis reported on 2 Saturday and read over the Schedule for themes for the next 18 months
Kelly is talking to some of the Vacant Building owners about partnering with Wayland Art
Department for Window Display during the holidays
Cynthia ask about Soup and Sopapilla and Tori explained and said she will be doing that with
Carlitos and The Brew
2. Design
Ranada passed out information on Façade Grant and spoke to Stephanie about a color palette.
She passed out an example
that suggested 3 color themes with a neutral being the central color and with 2 accent
colors. There was some discussion about taking facades back to their original wood or brick and
Kelly ask about getting a cost analysis for such. It was mentioned that Melissa Turpin had done
some research on that and that we should talk to her.
3. Economic Restructuring

FAÇADE GRANT DISCUSSION
:
Ranada said we would vote next month on changing the Façade Grant rules and ask if we had all
received the information in our email. She said she would resend it.
Melinda suggested that we vote in September instead and everyone agreed Cynthia moved to wait
until September, it was seconded, and the motion carried.
Melinda ask if we would like code enforcement to come and talk to Main Street at our August
meeting and everyone agreed that we would.

HOT GRANTS:
There were no HOT GRANT applications in July 2018
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Red White and Moo Festival, Tori said she needed volunteers and said they should meet at 9am at
the Centennial Bank. July 4
Texas Plains Trail Round Up
KCBD Plainview Day at Wayland with a live broadcast from 6:30 to 8pm. Anyone is welcome and
can bring tents, promotional material ect. July 16
