AVENIDA GODSEY
ORDINANCE NO. 01-3299
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS
PROVIDING FOR CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF
ESCUELA STREET AND SAN FELIPE AVENUE TO AVENIDA'
GODSEY; CUMULATIVENESS CLAUSE; CONFLICTS CLAUSE;
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes
that the Godsey family are Iongtime residents of the Frisco neighborhood (a/Ida
El BarriO);
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes
their contributions to the Church by their many years of service to Primera Iglesia
Bautista, South Plains Baptist Association, and the Inter-Denominational
Alliance;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, recognizes
their contributions to their community by their work as civic leaders, by being
instrumental in bringing better city services and better paved streets and by
serving the students of the Frisco School;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, has
determined that it would be in the best interest of the public that a portion of San
Felipe Avenue and Escuela Street be renamed Avenida Godsey; said portion to
be renamed described as follows, to-wit:
All of Escuela Street from the West side of El Camino to the East
side of San Felipe Avenue and San Felipe Avenue from Escuela
Street to the South side of East 11th Street, which lies in the
Merryman Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview that:
SECTION 1
That Escuela Street from the West side of El Camino to the East side of San
Felipe Avenue and San Felipe Avenue from Escuela Street to the South side of
East 11th Street, which lies in the Merryman Addition, Plainview, Hale County,

Texas is hereby changed from Escuela Street and San Felipe Avenue to Avenida
Godsey.
SECTION II
Provisions of this ordinance are cumulative and nothing herein shall prevent, alter,
or diminish the applicability or enforcement of other ordinances restricting,
regulating or governing the subject matter herein.
SECTION III
All ordinances or portions of any ordinance of the City of Plainview, Texas in conflict
herewith, are hereby amended to conform with the provisions hereof.
SECTION IV
Should any section, subsection, or any portion hereof be deemed invalid for any
raason, such holding shall not render or invalidate any other section, sub-section,
sentence, provision, clause, phrase, or word severable there from and the same
shall be deemed severable for this purpose.
SECTION V
This ordinance shall be of full force and effect upon its passage and publication
as required by law.
Passed and Approved on first reading this 11th day of September, 2001.
Passed and Approved on second reading this 20th day of September, 2001.
