RESOLUTION NO. R20=497
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL .OF THE CITY :OF-PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS RATIFYING AND ADOPTING LOCAL.ELECTION REGISTER FOR
THE, ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 2020 AND DECLARING THE
RESULTS OF SAID ELECTION.
'WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Plainview, Texas, on November. 3, 2020,
a General Election for the office of Mayor,. and Councilmembers District 5, 6 and 7; and
WHEREAS, there were cast for Councilmember District 5-1,235 votes as shown
on the official election: .results heretofore lawfully submitteflo the City Council of the City
of Plainview, Texas, and filed with the City Secretary of said City; and
WHEREAS, there were cast for Councilmember District 6 820 votes .as shown on
the official election results heretofore lawfully submitted to the City Council of the City_ of
Plainview, Texas, and filed with. the City Secretary of said City; and
WHEREAS, there were cast for=Co.uncilmember District 7 378 votes as shown on
the official election results heretofore lawfully submitted to the City Council of the City of:
Plainview, Texas, and filed with the City Secretary of said City; and
WHEREAS, there were cast for Mayor 5,1:46 votes as shown on the official election
results heretofore lawfully submitted to the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas,
and: filed with the City Secretary of said City; and
WHEREAS, only duly qualified resident electors -of said City voted in said election
and said election was called and held in strict conformity, with the laws of the State of
Texas; and'
WHEREAS, in accordance -wit h Texas Election Code § 0T.002, the -City Council of
the City of :Plainview:is the: proper body to canvass the election results of this general
election; and
WHEREAS, at a called meeting of the City Council with a posted :agenda, the
results of said election were duly canvassed by a quorum of the City Council of the City
of :Plainview;. Texas, as that quorum: is defined by Texas Election Code § 67.004,. on
November: 10, 2020; and. showed the following results:

NOW',. THEREFORE,. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview that:
Section 1.
Susan Blackerby, unopposed, is hereby declared to have been elected to the
Office of Councilmember District 5.
Section 2.
Evan Weiss, unopposed, is hereby declared to have been elected to the Office of
Councilmember District6.
Section 3.
Patna Letty Moreno is hereby declared to have been elected to the Office of
Councilmember District 7, receiving the majority vote.

Section 4.
Charles Starnes is hereby declared to have been: elected to the Office of Mayor,
receiving the: majority vote.
Section 5.
The Mayor is:hereby authorized and directed to execute, respectively, on behalf of
the .City of Plainview,. this Resolution adopting the local election register for the General
Election held November 3,. 2020 and declaring the results of such election.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 10th day of -November, 2020.
