HomeMy WebLinkAboutR21-519223 RESOLUTION R21-519 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, APPROVING THE REQUEST FOR NOAH'S RUN DIRECTOR TO HOST THE NOAH'S RUN EVENT; AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF THE AGREEMENT FOR THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STATE RIGHT-OF- WAY WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THIS EVENT; DECLARING THAT THE EVENT SERVES A PUBLIC PURPOSE; AND AGREEING TO COMPLY WITH REGULATIONS. WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation owns and operates US 70 in the corporate limits of the City of Plainview; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview received a request from NOAH'S RUN event director for police assistance in its NOAH'S RUN event; and WHEREAS, NOAH'S RUN event will include a procession crossing US 70; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview finds that such event serves a public purpose in that it increases the public awareness in the importance of our community involvement; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas finds it in the best interest for the citizens of Plainview that the NOAH'S RUN event be held this year on JULY 31, 2021 starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 a.m. and use the above referenced routes; and WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation requires the Local Government to submit a completed Agreement for the Temporary Closure of State Right - of -Way for use of US 70 in such public events as this NOAH'S RUN event and WHEREAS, the City Council designates Mayor Charles Starnes as the City's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for or terminate such Agreement on behalf of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plainview that: The request from the NOAH'S RUN event Director for the NOAH'S RUN event is hereby approved. II. The public purpose of this event is to increase the public awareness in the importance of our community involvement. Resolution R21-519 Page 1 of 2 1�j Ill. Submission of the completed AGREEMENT FOR THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STATE RIGHT-OF-WAY with the Texas Department of Transportation is hereby approved. IV. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute, respectively, on behalf of the City of Plainview, all necessary documents, including the AGREEMENT FOR THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STATE RIGHT-OF-WAY to complete the NOAH'S RUN event preparation process.
