RESOLUTION NO. R21=535
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL .OF THE CITYOF:PLAINVIEW,
CANVASSING THE SPECIAL ELECTION ORDERED ON NOVEMBER 2,
2021 AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF SAID ELECTION.
WHEREAS, in accordance with state law and the Plainview City Charter, a special
election was ordered:for November 2, 2.021 for: the purpose of electing a Council:Member
for District 7 to serve -on: the City Council in the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, the city secretary certified in writing that no candidates filed to run for
said election; and
WHEREAS on September 14, 2021, due to fact that no candidate filed to run for
the vacant Council seat: for Council Member for District 7, the City Council declared that
such seat is vacant and shall remain vacant until such time as the City Secretary prepares
the necessary, documents for the City Council to call, for another special election: to fill
such: vacancy; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Texas Election -Code § 67.002,.the City Council: of
the City of Plainview is the proper body to canvass the election results of this special
election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Plainview that:
Section 1.
No candidate filed for the office of Council Member District 7.
Section 2.
In accordance with the::statutes of the State. of Texas and::the Charter of the -City-
of- Plainview; a special election shall: be ordered in and for the City of Plainview for the -
position of Council Member District 7.
Section 3.
- The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute;- respectively-, .on behalf of
the City of Plainview, this Resolution: for the Special Election held November 2, 202.1 and
declaring, the results of such election.
